Upset SundaySubmitted by: Matt O'Laughlin on 15 January 2008Who would've thought that Philip Rivers, let alone Billy Volek would lead a LT-less Chargers into the AFC Championship??!!
The two biggest regular-season matchups (GB @ DAL & NE @ IND) appeared to be shoe-ins to rematch in the NFC/AFC Championship games. Now thanks to the Giants and Chargers, football fans don't get to see Favre try to win his first game in Dallas or another episode of the NE vs. IND rivalry.
Both games are potential blowouts this weekend. NE is going to crush San Diego, regardless of who plays for SD - Gates, LDT, Rivers. Green Bay at home with crazed Packer fans (which will include our CFO - Stuart) cheering on Favre doesn't bode well for the Giants.
Favre vs. Brady in the Superbowl would be a nice matchup though. Green Bay has a great defense and they're one of the few top teams in the NFL that didn't play (lose) to NE in the regular season. I'm rooting for that matchup because NE would crush the Giants in the Superbowl.
I also wouldn't be a proper Vikings fan if I didn't mention that the Vikings DESTROYED 2 of the 4 Championship teams - SD & NYG, in the regular season.
That's all I have for this week. We're working on our NCAA March Madness competition, which should be a lot of fun... but that's a month away, stay tuned for more info. -Matt
